SUMMER NATIONALS VICTORY AT OHSWEKEN

Bryan Howland was on a mission Saturday night at Ohsweken Speedway during Night #2 of the American Sprint Car Series Northern Summer Nationals, featuring the ASCS Sprints on Dirt series vs. the ASCS Patriot series. After starting 8th in the 30-lap feature event, the Auburn, NY native sliced his way to the front and drove around Darren Long into the lead on lap 14. From there, Howland put on a clinic in lapped traffic and dominated the 2nd half of the race, taking his first victory in almost 2 full years, along with the $3,000 cheque as the inaugural winner of the Northern Summer Nationals. Howland's last victory also came at Ohsweken nearly two full years ago on July 14, 2006 in an ASCS Patriot event.

The largest sprint car field of the 2008 Ohsweken Speedway season turned out for a historic night as the inaugural ASCS Northern Summer Nationals event took centre stage during Round 8 of Friday Night Thunder. When the dust settled, Dustin Daggett had bested 44 other sprint car drivers and found his way back to Ohsweken's victory lane for a 5th time. Ohsweken's regular Friday Night Thunder classes also participated in the evening's festivities, with Cody McPherson picking up his 5th ESSO Thunder Stock feature of the season, while Brent Hill garnered feature win honours for a 2nd time this season in the ESSO Mini-Stocks, and Lee Hils won his 3rd Friday Night Fun Stock feature.

Busy Month at Ohsweken Speedway

The season of special events at Ohsweken Speedway continues this Friday and Saturday as Engine Pro Racing presents the American Sprint Car Series "Northern Summer Nationals". A full slate of Friday Night Thunder activities are planned for Friday, July 4 including night #1 of the Northern Summer Nationals for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt versus the ASCS Patriots, along with Ohsweken's ESSO Thunder Stocks, ESSO Mini-Stocks, and Friday Night Fun Stocks. On Saturday night, July 5, the Sprint Cars will take centre stage for night #2 of the Northern Summer Nationals when they compete for a $3,000 feature winner's cheque. A special $250-to-win Fun Stock race and Box Car races for kids will also be part of the Saturday night festivities.
